Meet Dr. Ericka Cables.
Ericka is the Owner/Clinical Director of Thoughts Out Loud Counseling and Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri. Her desire to start a private practice counseling company started upon completion of her bachelor’s degree in Health Care Management from Harris Stowe State University - St. Louis. She received her master’s degree in a dual track concentration of School Counseling (K-12) and Professional Counseling. Most recently, she received her doctoral degree in Counselor Education from the University of Missouri - St. Louis.
She enjoys working with individuals who are experiencing life transition, grief, loss, relationship challenges, and divorce. She is an EMDR-trained therapist and continuing towards certification. She is near completion of certification in Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) in the State of Missouri. She has also completed Gottman Level 1 and 2 trainings.
She is an approved supervisor for Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselors (PLPC) in the State of Missouri. In addition to providing counseling services, she provides consultation to therapists looking to add insurance paneling and start private practice.
Meet Jessica Hughes.
Jessica is a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (under the supervision of Ericka Cables, PhD, MAC, LPC, NCC) in Missouri. She received her bachelor’s in psychology and in criminal justice in 2016 from National University, and her master’s in professional counseling in 2018 from Lindenwood University-St Charles, MO. Jessica is currently pursuing her Doctor of Social Science degree in prevention science from Wilmington University.
Jessica believes in a relational, strengths-based approach to therapy. Her empathy and
warmth help to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can process and heal. She has
a particular interest in working with survivors of all forms of trauma, including witnessing or experiencing violence, complicated grief, abuse, and sexual trauma. When providing support and counseling to help clients effectively address personal life challenges, her eclectic approach includes psychodynamic cognitive behavioral techniques, behavioral neuroscience, and real-life experiences; with an eye toward how people can use their support system, community
resources, mindfulness and newly learned skills to live the kind of life they envision for themselves.
Jessica has experience in the areas of anxiety, depression, self-esteem, PTSD, dissociative disorders, trauma, conduct disorders, anger, substance use, life transitions, and relational problems. She is passionate about helping individuals, families, and relationships of
any kind to help people more wholly connect with themselves and others.
